I am a qualified counsellor working in Northampton and surrounding areas. I developed an interest and passion in counselling first in 2012 beginning with the CPCAB level 2 & 3 certificate in person centered counselling, and then went on to do a Master’s Degree in Integrative Counselling in 2014. During this time I also worked for the NHS as a Crisis Support Worker working with people in mental health crisis in various settings. I am an individual member of the BACP.
Counselling is a talking therapy that involves a trained therapist listening to you and helping you to find ways to deal with emotional issues, difficulties and problems. It involves a therapeutic process wherein a professional relationship is built between yourself and the therapist to provide a safe, non-judgemental space, where you can explore a variety of issues in a confidential environment.
Integrative counselling is a progressive form of psychotherapy which combines different therapeutic approaches and tools tailored specifically to the individual needs of the client. It draws and combines different elements from varied schools of psychological research and theory. Integrative counselling is flexible and inclusive in nature. Each individual is considered holistically and treated uniquely, paying particular attention to their own needs and personal circumstances.
Depression, stress and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience in our lives. Together we can look through what is happening to you, and how you can begin to move on to regain motivation, recover perspective and experience your life to its full potential!
Painful and traumatic circumstances from the past can hinder you in the present day giving you symptoms of anxiety, stress, flashbacks and intrusive thoughts which can impact your life until you process them. I can help you to examine these in a safe place to help you move forward in life and to guide you through the process of grief and healing.
Society is built on relationships but life does not come with a manual on how to nurture, connect and manage them! Sometimes our parents are not good role models for us as children which can greatly affect the way we build our own relationships as adults. In counselling we can look at past relationships to identify cycles of behaviour and attachment to then go on to make more healthy foundations for relationships by learning better, more effective ways to communicate with one another.
